We are getting new floors put in the house. It's some kind of hybrid cement/concrete mixture that they have poured directly on top of the tile that was there. It looks like brown muck right now, but after a couple of more layers they will put a sealer on it and polish it and it should come up with a nice gleam. We'll post the after pix when it is done.

The whole thing has turned into a bit of an ordeal. The company doing the work we found through our neighbor who has the same kind of flooring. They only speak French and the owner said that we would need to plan on being out of the house a couple of nights and that it will all be scheduled so we can make a plan. His work guys show up out of the blue a couple of weeks ago and spend 4-5 days puttering around, and we are not quite sure what is going on. Then at 10 am on Monday morning this week, the work guy tells us that we must be out of the house by 2pm and we can come back the next day.

Well, the communication is not going so well. We have been sleeping at a friends house now since Friday, and you can see they are still not finished. We think they are telling us that it will all be done by next Friday. We've had to move all the furniture into the bedrooms, and the kitchen isn't accessible as it is getting the new floor stuff too, so we really can't stay in the house until they let us move the furniture back. The process involves lots of bags of this cement stuff getting mixed and everything in the house has been covered and coated in this layer of cement dust.

In the meantime, I have been to London for two nights to speak at an Economic Conference on Air Transport. And spent a day in Zurich for meetings on Friday. So it is pretty hectic right now to say the least.
