Zermatt Day 6: Poor weather forced another break day upon us, so it was back to the hockey rink where once again the kids were joined by the mystery blonde girl and her brother. As you may recall, we wondered who she was, and you will find this spooky, she is a Peters!

Dad put some skates on too this time, and we decided to play the Peters family against the strangers. When we announced “the Peters against everyone else”, they looked at us strange and said, “but we’re the Peters”. Yes, we share the same last name. We did not determine if we were related, though their Mom is from Minnesota, but her maiden name is Mayer. They are from Telluride and currently live in Amsterdam. Their Dad was raised in the Bahamas and is now a professional poker player. We met the parents after the hockey, and they were very cool. Martha and Charlie, their kids are 10 and twelve and obviously, love playing hockey. Yes, it is all just as weird as it sounds!

Then to top off the strange and bizarre with the just plain stupid, Dad wrenched his knee while playing and had to go to the doctor to get it looked at. This is the knee with the torn ACL. The doctor just shook his head. Recommendation is to go to a specialist, get an MRI, and see what can be salvaged. Until then, hobble around.

Thus ends our week in Zermatt. Today, day 7, we drive back to Geneva, where Lorin’s parents are organizing a Raclette dinner for us. The knee will recover with time, if not my pride. Posted by Picasa
