It's Apple pie time, as we took the weekend to have the neighbors over for a faux Thanksgiving event. We cooked a 7 kg Turkey with squash, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole, pumpkin pie, apple pie, and pumpkin cake. We had a local Swiss Gamay red wine with it, which we picked up earlier in the day at a local winery. They were having an open house, and we were treated to a tasting with one of the brothers that runs the winery.

The interesting thing about this meal was that I would guess nearly +90% of all the ingredients, including the turkey, wine and vegetables, all originated from within a 10 mile radius of where we live.
